Viniculture in numbers

All aspects of viniculture contribute between 17 and 20% of agricultural GDP. Following tobacco, grapes are the second most important crop in terms of export value. The country can be divided into three vine-growing regions: Vardar (i.e. Povardarie), Pelagonija-Polog (western) and Pchinja-Osogovo (eastern). 40% of wine grapes are white varieties and 60% red varieties (1).
