Vulnerabilities Moldova
The number of people employed in the wine industry was 14,472 in 2008, which was an increase of 3,181 employees compared to the year 2006. It is likely that climate change will affect the vineyards. Higher temperatures and lower precipitation in the ripening period could increase the concentration of the sugar in grapes and improve the quality of the wines, especially of sparkling wines. Such trends alone would be beneficial for the Moldovan economy in which the winemaking sector plays a major role (1).
