Climate change
Both the frequency of occurrence and the duration of heat waves are projected to increase in the near future (2021–2050), compared with 1971–2000. The projected increase in the number of heat waves in this region is between 50 and 60% for a moderate and 60 to 80% for a high-end scenario of climate change.
