Wildfires

Vulnerabilities

Every year there are 2,000-3,000 forest fires that spread over large areas in some years (up to 20,000 ha) (1).

The periods with a high wildfire risk will last longer, and the areas of potentially fire-prone forests will increase. A relatively high fire risk in forests and peatlands has already been observed recently (1992, 1999, 2002) (1).
